“Day of Psalms” (Second Annual). On Saturday March 3 we will gather to chant psalms in the sanctuary, beginning with Psalm 1 and moving our way through the psalms (with some skips) chanting on a simple setting. While continuous chanting can become movingly musical, the main intention is as a form of contemplative prayer and as a vigil-like response to darkness in the world. No particular skill is required to participate. We will start with an introduction at 8:45 and then will chant psalms continuously from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a five minute break every half hour and a break for lunch (soup and bread). You are welcome to participate for all or just part. Bring a friend! Last year about 25 people participated and we hope for even more this year. But whether four, fourteen or forty of us, we will raise our voices in the ancient laments and praises of the psalms!
