On Thursday May 10, 2018 the Rt. Rev. Brian Prior, bishop of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota, blessed the recently completed “Starfish” tiny house dwelling, which is located in the “back yard” of the church.
The people of St. John’s Episcopal Church in St. Cloud are addressing the “homelessness” in town by building a 384 square foot house. Our eyes have been opened to this ongoing social issue. We are developing a Ministry for our “friends without homes”. The number of people affected is overwhelming. We know that as a small church we cannot solve this enormous problem. But we can help. One person at a time. The Starfish house is both a symbol of our calling to this issue and a very real, if small response. Our desire is to offer a leg up in the form of a stable living environment. Along with ongoing support we hope to graduate many formerly homeless people to a life of sustainability.
