This will be my last message as a deacon. Next week on Wednesday the 24th of June at 3:00 PM at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis, Bishop Craig Loya will ordain me a priest in the Episcopal church, the Lord willing and the people and the bishop consenting. The entire event will be live streamed over ECMN’s facebook page. You do not need a Facebook account to watch.
ECMN will conduct 10 Ordinations from June 23rd through and including June 30th. On Wednesday the 24th there will be three and on Tuesday the 30th in Duluth there will be two. I know each of these individuals to a varying degree and they are all willing, able and anxious and called to serve God in the church as it is defined in this day and age.
Bishop Loya will be getting a lot of practice, ordaining people. He himself was just consecrated a bishop on June 6th and less than a month later he is busy dancing with the Holy Spirit on behalf of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. Thanks be to God.
What a time to be ordained into the priesthood of so many passionate men and women who have given so much of themselves to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. At this time so much is happening and changing in our world. In this time of COVID 19 and physical distancing and the recent reminders of how much we still have to accomplish in the area of racial reconciliation, I have come to realize how blessed I am.
Jesus said that we need to love one another as he has loved us. That means all of us.
Peace to you in this time of isolation,
