Great News: Return of The Good Book Club!

While our current faith formation book group settles into the season before Christmas with the historic yet timely Advent sermons of Saint Osacar Romero, we have news about our next book group, the one that many of you have been waiting for – The Good Book Club’s deep dive into the Gospel of Mark.

The earliest and shortest of the four gospels, Mark is the gospel appointed for this lectionary year, so we will have a chance to embrace the scripture through the Good Book Club and then spend more time with Mark throughout 2021!

We will begin our reading on Friday, January 1 and continue through Shrove Tuesday, February 16, with weekly Sunday Morning Zoom meetings to ponder and discuss our progress.

Our text will be Forward Movement’s A Journey With Mark. The book contains the entire gospel text divided into easily manageable daily segments, along with reflections from noted scholars and congregational leaders from across the Episcopal Church and around the world. The text also poses questions that will make the scripture relevant to us at this moment in our lives. I will have discounted copies available for you later this month.

The growth in popularity of The Good Book Club has brought some new resources (all optional) including daily podcasts of the readings and reflections, online book studies (live classes and pre-recorded), weekly preview emails, and different ways to participate via social media.

Our group size will be limited, to facilitate participation by all members. So, let me know soon, or by return email (gham47@comcast.net), if you want to be part of the group.

If I haven’t yet convinced you to join us, click here for details on everything.

I am excited about this journey through Mark! Make plans now to join us as we continue to read and learn about God’s Word together.

Stay Safe and Have a Blessed Week!
