The garden is 70’ x 40’, and is located on the north side of our property. That location provides good drainage and full sun until late in the afternoon.
Our Fall 2017 harvest has begun. Gardeners are encouraged to share extra harvest. SJEC members can bring their surplus produce to the Parish Hall on Sundays for others to enjoy.
WHAT IS LAUNDRY LOVE? heart-basket
A regular opportunity to help people who are struggling financially by
assisting them with doing their laundry. Relationships are built, and we hope to become a small community of common concern in which participants find that they receive assistance and benefit with other areas of their lives as well.
The Laundry Love project began several years ago in the Los Angeles area. It has expanded to dozens of locations nation wide.
Steve Bruce from Los Angeles explains: “I tell them that this is what Jesus was inviting us to do, to get out of our churches and into the community and to get to know the community and help your neighborhood,” he said. “For me it’s a personal transformation to sit down and listen to the stories of the homeless and the working poor, those who are disabled. For me, the Holy Spirit always shows up and it just feels like a great thing for me to do.”
Central Minnesota Job Transitions meets weekly at St. John’s. There are speakers, networking, and resume building. Weekly meetings are at 11:45am on Wednesdays.
