Christmas celebrates the Incarnation of the Word of God in the birth of Jesus Christ. Christian tradition celebrates Christmas as a season rather than as a single event. The Christmas season – the Twelve Days of Christmas – brings heightened meaning to days that socially and culturally are often viewed as a let-down.
