Migration with Dignity
Saint John’s along with many other Episcopal Churches in the United States, affirms its support of the Migration with Dignity resolution passed by the 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church (June 2024). We affirm:
A universal right of movement, including freedom to leave and return to one’s country of origin, freedom of movement within one’s country of origin or country of settlement.
The right to be secure: from sexual violence including rape and sexual exploitation, human trafficking, slavery, force labor and arbitrary and abusive detention.
The right of equality, to include: 1) equal treatment with no discrimination under the law based on color, gender, sexual orientation, language, religion, political affiliation, national origin; and 2) equal opportunity for upward mobility.
Rights to a basic quality of life, including employment rights, housing rights and food rights.
The right to access services such as health care, education, and legal representation.
Civil and political rights guaranteeing the right to identity, to use of one’s language, and to freedom of speech and religion.
North Star Act Resolution
Saint John’s, along with many other Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Minnesota, affirms it support of the NorthStar Act Resolution, passed by the 2024 (November) Diocesan Convention. The NorthStar Act is legislation focused on welcoming and protecting refugees and immigrants in the State of Minnesota.
Saint John’s affirms that:

We are committed to our Scriptures that call to welcome and care for our neighbors, aliens, immigrants and refugees.
We believe in the human dignity of all persons,
We are committed to act for the protection of all immigrants and refugees,
We care committed to act for the dignified care of immigrants and refugees.
